The ongoing Russian film festival screens some of their best classics ever
THE Russian Center of Science and Cul ture, Chennai, Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation and Indo Russian Film Club have organised a Russian Film Festival to commemorate the 65th anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War. It is on till May 13, 2010.N A Listopadov, the Consulate-General of Russian Federation in South India, inaugurated the festival recently. L Suresh, President, Film Federation of India and Secretary, South India Film Chamber of Commerce was the Chief Guest at the inauguration. Vladimir V Mariy, Director, Russian Centre of Science and Cul ture was the Guest of Honour. Cine artiste Swarnamalya lit the lamp to start proceedings.
The festival started with the screening of the movie The Cadets, an in-depth story about how the Soviets trained their troops for the Great Patriotic War around the time of the Battle of Stalingrad. The other movies that will be screened include Star, The Italian, Only Old Men Are Going to Battle and You'll Never Leave Me.
The festival rounds up with the screening of the movie Samara Town. The festival is currently on at the Russian Centre of Culture and Science, Chennai, 6 pm onwards.
