9th Apr, 2010: The son of ex-CM late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, kicked off his Odarpu Yatra (consolation tour) to meet and console die-hard fans of his father, today from Gannavaram.
Arriving to a raucous welcome at Gannavaram (the airport for Vijayawada), the scion of the ex-CM's family went in an open-top vehicle from the airport to the city via Hanuman Junction, greeting followers who thronged the streets in the hot mid-day conditions. He is being accompanied by multiple MLAs and Congress leaders.
He is scheduled to reach Eluru where he will inaugurate a bronze statue of his father, and then console the first family at Tangerlamudi in Eluru district. From there, atop a special bus, he will go to Chebrolu, Kolamuru, Akiveedu and Mahadevapatnam before reaching Bhimavaram where he will spend the night.
Rumours abound that Jagan was effectively neutralized by the Congress High Command (you know who that is) ever since the Telangana fracas broke out, and he has been barely seen in the news for some months now, with the exception of Sakshi TV and Sakshi newspaper. This tour then assumes significance, since it is a series of fairly high-profile public appearances by the young leader, and one that is quite likely to ruffle some feathers in New Delhi.
